Urban Farming

Would an outdoor horizontal farm be profitable that does not use any sunlights

The main problem with horizontal farming is the expenditure of energy. Would it be practical to reduce the start-up costs involved in buying illuminations and paying for energy by setting up vertical growing towers outdoors? I understand that the benefit of being able to grow in optimal conditions would be lost and there would be more exposure to pests, however, the benefit of being able to grow lots of greens in a small space still remains which would be ideal for an urban farm so long as the system is designed and managed well, I could see outdoor horizontal agriculture being commercially viable. Does anyone have any thinks on this?
